WeChat Mini Program + M-Pesa for Chinese Sellers in Kenya

Client Background

A Shanghai-based Chinese trading company sold consumer goods to Kenyan buyers through a WeChat storefront, but 90% of Kenyan customers could not pay as it only accepted WeChat Pay and Alipay.

Our Solution

We rebuilt their WeChat mini program with full M-Pesa integration using Safaricom's Daraja API. Kenyan customers browse products, add to cart, select M-Pesa at checkout, enter their phone number, receive STK push, confirm with PIN. The Chinese seller gets real-time notifications in CNY equivalent.

Results & Impact

Payment completion rate jumped from 8% to 85%. Weekly orders increased from 12 to 85 within 6 weeks. Average transaction value increased by 40%.
